Every water ionizer we carry can be connected directly to the cold water line through your counter top or directly to a diverter valve at the end of your faucet. Connecting directly to your faucet takes about 10-15 minutes and enables your water ionizer to use a two step process.
The first task is to help filter out harmful components of the water using the water ionizer: chlorine, trihalomethanes, phenols, sediment, odor, taste, organic waste, and bacteria of all kinds. A Jupiter water ionizer achieves this by the use of a multistage activated carbon alkaline water filter containing tourmaline and coral calcium.

No. Jupiter Ionizers come with a diverter kit that fits all standard kitchen faucets, and installs easily in minutes. Except for the Jupiter Microlite Ionizer, you also have the option of connecting directly to the water main, providing a whole house water filter. For this you may need a plumber, if you don't have simple plumbing skills.

We have installed some Water Ionizers under the kitchen sink bench. There are even a couple installed in mobile vans for nomad Aquarius Water Ionizer style customers. Remember an ionizer needs somewhere for the acid water to flow to. It can go into the dishwasher inlet on the S-bend, but it is valuable water and you'll probably want to keep it to use.
The Jupiter ionizer is not a pressure unit so it doesn't have to be plumbed in line with your other taps. One installation we supervised used a special tap that had a switch on its base for allowing either tap water or Jupiter water. It was very efficient and neat. The diverter for the Jupiter water ionizer has a lever which swaps your water flow from tap water outlet to alkaline water outlet. It has an incorporated aerator for your tap water.
The 'splitting' in a water ionizer of the inlet H2O is the proof that the water ionizer does what it says it does. The process of splitting causes the following: a. Approximately 70% of the H20 input is molecularly rearranged into OH-, or alkaline, negatively charged water. b. Approximately 30% of the input H2O is molecularly rearranged into HO, or acidic water.
Some companies sell water ionizers that just use magnets or magnetic rock to affect the water. A water ionizer that claims the benefits of a water ionizer but does not electronically split the water will not hold the negative charge long enough for it to be of any real value, or will not be able to exert enough magnetic power to cause the water to become negatively charged. The water will reunite very quickly back into ordinary H2O.

Almost all water ionizers produced today provide approximately the same levels of ionized water, that is, an alkaline pH 9.9 and ORP -300, and an acid pH 5.5 and ORP +800. Jupiter Ionizers deliver those levels and stand up well in comparison to any other Water Ionizer on the market, regardless of their country of origin.
Solid platinum electrodes would be cost prohibitive to begin with. The electrodes are one of the most expensive components of the Water Ionizer. Also, platinum is a very soft metal (as is gold) and therefore would not be an appropriate material for the electrode base, which is why titanium is used. Anyone claiming to have solid platinum electrodes in the Water Ionizers they are selling do not know their own product because solid platinum electrodes are, in a practical sense, not possible in a Water Ionizer.
Jupiter ionizers use MICOM Digital Technology, while many other Water Ionizers on the market use the old analog technology. With MICOM, the unit has the ability to self-clean for thirty seconds for every ten minutes of use. This helps extend the life of the electrodes and therefore the life of the Water Ionizer. It also can sense that hot water is being put through the unit and automatically shuts off, as hot water would burn out the electrodes. This protection and the self-cleaning mechanism of MICOM helps extend the life of the water ionizer dramatically.
An LED or counter indicator on the front panel of the water ionizer gives an approximate indication of remaining filter life.On the Melody, when the filter life indicator reaches 9,999, then you will know that the filter(s) need to be changed. Generally the standard Biostone filter lasts about 9 months and the Ultra fine Biostone alkaline water filter lasts about 8 months. But this depends on the source of water and the amount you use your Jupiter ionizer. For example, if your tap water contains between 0.4 and 1.0 ppm (parts per million) of chlorine, an alkaline water filter can last 12 months for one person's use. If greater than 1.0 ppm, the water ionizer filter may last 9 months. A family of four on a typical North American water supply will use a filter about every 9 months. By changing your alkaline water filter at regular intervals, you are assured of the inner hygiene of the filter.
Most water filters are 1 micron exclusion rating. The Jupiter BioStone alkaline water filter cartridge in the alkalizer is 0.1 or .01 micron; ten or one hundred times more effective. Using a Jupiter Ionizer is the best way to get strong alkalized water.

No. The tourmaline in the Biostone filter is put into a ceramic bead form. Ceramic is completely non reactive and non
leaching. Many water filters employ ceramic media. So we can say for certain given the structure and hardness of
tourmaline, the fact it is in ceramic and reviewing test results. Further, we can show with certainty that the Biostone filter
actually reduces Aluminum so significantly it is below the detectable levels.
One alkaline water filter produces about 1000 gallons (or about 3,800 liters) of water. We estimate for an average family of four with average daily consumption using a Jupiter ionizer, a filter will last about 8-9 months.
You can reset the filter counter by pressing the “Reset” button located at the top of the filter-housing compartment for 2 – 3 seconds while the unit is in stand-by mode.
Open the front of the water ionizer, grab the alkaline water filter, press down a little, and pull it out. After installing a new water filter, run the water ionizer system for a few minutes to clear away any loose charcoal.
There are instructions on how to replace your filters in the Owners Manual that came with your unit as well as the Installation DVD. If your filter does not fit, be sure that the adaptor cup is removed from the bottom of the old filter, and replaced in the machine. You will be able to tell what the adaptor cup is by the difference in color of the filter and the cup.

Regular tap water is best for your water ionizer. Distilled water or water filtered by reverse osmosis does not have any minerals, therefore it cannot be ionized. Water ionizers can be used with most well water.
The two most common problems found in well water are hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg, sulfur smell) and high iron or calcium content. Both of these conditions can be remedied with the proper pre-filter (contact us for more information). The mineral content of your source water directly effects the strength of ionized water you can produce. The more minerals, the stronger the ionization: higher alkalinity and higher antioxidant potential. Please note that very high calcium levels in the water can cause scale build up.
In chemistry oxidation and reduction are now commonly defined as gaining or losing electrons. Oxidation is the loss of an electron from a substance, while in reduction an electron is gained. These oxidizing free radicals then must repair themselves by stealing an electron from a nearby molecule, which means that the nearby molecule must steal an electron from another molecule and the process keeps going on and on.
Oxidation and reduction occur simultaneously in two substances. Oxygen is the most familiar electron acceptor or oxidizer. Iron rusts by combining with oxygen. Thereby the iron donates electrons and is oxidized while the oxygen gains electrons and is reduced. Fortunately 'donor' molecules also exist. These donor molecules are commonly referred to as anti-oxidants. In nature antioxidant properties exist in Vitamin C and E and others, including ionized water.
The antioxidant activity can be measured as the Oxidation Reduction Potential or O.R.P. The principle of antioxidant activity is the availability of electrons to neutralize any so-called free radicals with oxidizing qualities that may damage biological systems. The electrons present in alkaline ionized water are highly reactive and react much faster than organic antioxidants to neutralize free radicals.
Finally, all biochemical energy in our body is produced by transferring electrons from food molecules onto inhaled oxygen. Having more available electrons help us to produce more energy. This may be the reason why some individuals feel more energetic on ionized water.
Every living cell within our body creates acidic waste products. The nutrients from our food are delivered to each cell and they burn with oxygen to provide energy for us to live. The burned nutrients are the waste products. Whether you eat the best of foods or the worst, all foods generate acidic waste products. Foods, when classified as good or bad, are based on the amount and quality of the waste products they produce. Most of our cells go through metabolism and these old dead cells become waste products.

Remember: the pH level of ionized water will vary with the pH of your source, i.e. your tap water. Yes, alkaline ionized water is best kept in an airtight glass or quality plastic container. Alkalized water can be refrigerated or kept in a cool place. Avoid storage in metal, especially aluminum containers.
The alkaline properties will be retained for 1-2 weeks, but they are strongest when fresh (within the first 3 days). The antioxidant properties of the ionized water start to diminish after 18-24 hours. So for the best benefits, drink it within a day or so. If using plastic please check to see that the plastic container used is good quality. Bottled water is usually stored in cheap plastic that leaches chemicals.

The alkaline water from a water ionizer isn't loaded with alkaline minerals that will keep on alkalizing when in your body. It is loaded with sacrificial hydrogen ions that unites with positively charged molecules in your body, then their work is finished. We've never seen anyone too alkaline. Alkalinity, unlike acidity, is managed by the body by immediate elimination. As always consult a health practitioner if you have health issues.
Yes. However, it is so effective that it takes all minerals and everything out, making the water so 'empty' that it will begin uniting with CO2 in the air and turning acid. RO systems are not popular today because they waste approximately 9 liters per liter supplied. Ionizer water from a water ionizer is a safe and healthy method of alkalizing your body.
True. A distiller doesn't waste water, but it is very power-hungry and has the same problem of RO.... It is also so 'clean' that it also ends up acidic. If you look at our own history, you'll realize we have never had access to pure water and therefore our bodies are not made to process it. for those taking medications which should not be combined with alkaline water. As for the various levels of acid ionized
water, you will probably use the most acid level for the long list of uses for acid water. Remember: the pH level of ionized
water will vary with the pH of your source, i.e. your tap water. In addition, if you wish to make the water more alkaline or
more acid, simply slow down the flow of water A simple to use free pH test kit is provided free with every Jupiter Science
water ionizer, if you wish to occasionally check pH levels for yourself.
We are not in a position to make therapeutic claims. We can only refer you to the list of people who have reported health
changes to us, or to medical professionals who recommend our products. For example, Dr Theodore Baroody, author of
Alkalize or Die, states that he has recommended thousands of people over a long period of time and continues to do so. So
do countless more clinics and medical practices in Japan where Water Ionizers are sold over the counter in local electrical
stores. In the USA, Jupiter Science water ionizers are recommended by such well known health professionals as Dr.
Robert Young, The pH Miracle and Sang Whang Reverse Aging.
You certainly can, but if you're like us, you have never really got into the water habit because the water felt too much like a
lead balloon. Ionized water from water ionizers is light water. It has a smaller molecular cluster and you can drink it
throughout the day. You CAN just drink water and you will harvest some of the benefits we speak of, but it still can't
penetrate your cells like alkaline, ionized water can. This is why ionized water with its bounty of negative oxygen ions is
able to help rid you of acid wastes in your cells. It can go where ordinary water cannot, and it has the ammunition to help
neutralize free radicals, the cause of many problems. This is also the fundamental difference between water ionizers and
so-called bottled anti-aging water. This water is 'live'.
We still come across a few practitioners who believe in the old paradigm that somehow the body has a miraculous ability
to balance its own pH and heal itself. Certainly, in times when we ate more alkaline food and didn't repress stress the way
we do today, this might have been so.
However a study of almost 1,000 Americans by Dr Linda Frassetto of the University of California in 1999 has turned this
old idea on its head. She found the opposite; that we are now storing acid in our body fat because we have become
incapable of eliminating the increased tide of acid wastes that we are now assailed with. This is an evolutionary change
never before seen in our evolutionary history, and must be seen in the context of an unmanageable acid tide within.
Traditional water softeners operate off a process known as ion exchange, where calcium and magnesium ions are
exchanged for sodium (or potassium) on an ion by ion basis. 80% of the time, a reverse osmosis (R/O) system is sold with
the softener to remove the excessive levels of sodium or potassium prior to drinking. Hooking up a re-mineralizer to the
R/O system prior to ionization is a great alternative. However, in the 20% of cases where an R/O is not in service we do
not recommend ionizing soft water. Whether the softener uses sodium or potassium your ionizer will still be able to make
“alkaline” water because both of those minerals are alkaline. However, when water passes through a softener virtually all
of the beneficial calcium and magnesium is removed. The concentrating effect of the ionizer will also act to increase
sodium or potassium levels even higher
If your water is on the hard side, then it usually carries a lot of dissolved calcium that is evenly dispersed in
the water and invisible. When this water goes through your ionizer, a strong negative charge, or ORP, is created. This is
ideal to help your body absorb the water. In basic terms, this charge makes the calcium particles grab onto other calcium
particles so that they are no longer evenly dispersed. These clumps are seen with floating in the water of sticking to the
surface of your container. Rest assured, you are getting a very high level of very absorbable calcium in your ionized water.
If this bothers you, you can reduce the level of pH and this will usually reduce the amount of particles that you are seeing
in the water.
Our units are designed to work within specific water quality parameters. We will need to see a water report so that we can
ascertain what the, if any, pre-filtration is needed. Most, but not all, treated municipal water is fine. Some well water will
work and some well water will not work, and could even be detrimental to the longevity of the machine. To ensure that
your ionizer will perform at the optimal level, a water report is needed.Get a free water report for your area (scroll to end of page).
Double check to be sure that the power switch on the back of the machine is in the “On” position. Be sure that the source
water is turned on – water needs to be running through the machine for it to stay on. Also be sure that no hot water is
running through the machine, and that there is good water pressure to the machine; very low water pressure will not wake
up the unit. You may also want to check and replace the fuse if burnt, and ensure that machine is plugged into a proper
power source – you may want to try plugging the machine into an outlet that you are certain it works. Check that the
circuit breaker for the room the machine is in is not tripped, and be sure that the machine is not plugged into an extension
cord without a ground plug; this can cause the machine to not power on. If your machine is installed under sink, make
sure an on/off switch does not control the outlet, and if it is, make sure that the switch is on.
First, ensure that all of the hoses are installed correctly. You may want to try re-installing them. On thin white hoses with
John Guest fittings you should be able to give a firm tug; the hose should stay in the fitting. On the thicker gray hoses, the
hose should be on the fitting all the way to the back of the fitting (not partially over the fitting). Ensure clamps are used
and fittings are not broken or cracked. If the water is leaking at a John Guest fitting, the end of the hose in the fitting may
need to be trimmed; sometimes an uneven cut can cause leaking.
First, remove the filter and properly replace it so it is fits snugly in space at the top and bottom. If still leaking, inspect the
gaskets on the filter and the adaptor cup. If the filter adaptor cup is involved, try to put a little Vaseline on the ‘o’ rings on
the top and bottom of the cup to seal better. Replacement “O Ring’s” and filter cups are available.
It is important to first know the pH of your tap water in order for you to realize what the machine is doing to your water.
For example, if your tap water is testing at a 6.5 pH and the water being produced from the machine is testing at a 7.5 pH
at level 1, the machine is doing its job! Remember, each level is ten times more alkaline or acidic than the previous level.
Also, keep in mind that the source water is one of three chief variables in determining ionizer performance!
Try to slow the flow to your unit. Often times, this will allow the machine to perform better. (See next question)
With low pH, try testing the unit on a different source of water. It may simply be the source water.
Be sure that you are using the correct method of pH testing. If the reagent drops provided with your unit are old,
or if they have become exposed to too much sunlight, or heat, they may not work correctly. Try to test a variety of
clear liquids to be sure of this. If you are using a pH paper to test the water, keep in mind that most pH paper is
used for testing pools, hot tubs, saliva, etc. and are not designed to test our water, because we produce pH outside
the range these papers will test.
The best method of testing pH is with the provided pH reagent drops. Using a calibrated pH or ORP meter can be
tricky if not done correctly.
Ensure that the acid waste hose has water coming out of it. Some acid hoses are kinked when they are packaged –
Yes, there are a few things that you can try to adjust the flow from your machine.
1. Check the flow control valve on the bottom of the machine. On the Melody there is a small round silver knob on
the bottom of the machine that needs to be open counter clockwise.
2. Check the supply line for blockage. To do this, turn the water to the machine off, and remove the water line at the
water inlet fitting. Then, holding onto the water line, turn the water on and see if there is a strong flow. This is for
the Melody.
3. On the Melody unscrew the stainless flex hose, and blow through it to make sure it is not obstructed. If this is the
problem, you might have mineral buildup, and pre-filtration will be recommended to keep this from happening in
the future.
4. Soaking the items in vinegar will clear up the obstruction temporarily, but there will be buildup inside the
machine as well, it must be understood that our warrantee does not cover damage from hard water. To ensure a
long life and good water quality the best option is to have us evaluate your water and follow our recommendation
for pre-filtration. Another good idea to inhibit scale build up is to run the ionizer is acidic mode every other day
for about 30 seconds.
No, the machine is not designed to provide pressure to an on demand system like this. It is a flow through machine. If you
set up the unit with pressure, it will cause it to leak and fail. Any types of these arrangements mean the valve to start the
water flow is after the machine, which requires the unit to remain under constant pressure. Please make a note that,
installing the machine this way will void your valuable warranty!
No. You must have a triple hose vented faucet. This allows the water to the machine to be controlled by the faucet.
Note that the faucets all look the same; the distinction is that there are three hoses coming out the bottom of the one that
we require for our under sink install. We have a patent pending double spouted available.
If there is very little water coming out the tube that drains into the sink (the acid tube), the unit may need to be cleaned
because of mineral build-up on the electrodes.
This usually does not become an issue for until at least 12-24 months of use if ever. In the last two years, there have been
no more than perhaps 4 or 5 machines sent in that were overwhelmed by minerals in this manner. It is exceptionally rare,
and requires exceptionally hard water to cause this.
The safest way to clean the unit so as not to damage the electrodes is to recirculate WHITE VINEGAR through the unit
using a small fish tank pump or small water-garden pump ($15—$40).
Unplug the Water Ionizer from the electrical outlet.
Remove as much water from the Water Ionizer by blowing through the silver tube, inlet tube and acid tube.
Also remove the filter and shake as much water from it as you can then replace it. The filter must be securely placed in the
Water Ionizer for cleaning the ionizer in this method.
Prepare a container of WHITE VINEGAR for the pump.
Attach the INLET hose from the Water Ionizer to the pump. Depending on the pump you purchase, this
may require some minor modifications so that the hose will fit into the pump properly.
Submerge the pump into the white vinegar.
Plug the small fish tank pump or small water-garden pump in to the electrical outlet. (A GFI safety plug should be
used for this in order to protect against electrocution).
Place both the silver tube and acid water tube from the Water Ionizer into the white vinegar container so the
entire system is recirculating.
At first, there may be very little flow through the silver tube. However, as long as the slightest amount of vinegar is
flowing through the silver tube, the vinegar will eventually dissolve the calcium that is blocking the water from flowing out
the tube.
Clean the Water Ionizer for 2-12 hours depending on how much calcium and other minerals have been deposited
on the electrodes.
Reattach the Water Ionizer to your water source and flush the unit with water for 10-20 minutes to clean out the
vinegar from the unit.
Begin using the Water Ionizer again. Calcium buildup on the electrodes causes the pH of the ionized water to drop
because the source water is not coming in contact with the electrodes. Once your Water Ionizer is cleaned using this
method, the pH of the ionized water will be higher because the water is now coming in direct contact with the cleaned
electrodes.
Tip: You can also remove the silver tube from the unit and submerge it completely in the WHITE VINEGAR overnight to
remove much of the calcium build up.
The reason for the calcium build up on the alkaline side of the Water Ionizer is because the high pH of the water causes the
minerals in the water to precipitate out of the water and become displaced
The Water Ionizer must be unplugged from its power source while cleaning the unit in this manner.
